Bridal Series Part IIl: Makeup

ivanka-trump-bridal-makeupWhen it comes to bridal makeup, its all about enhancing your natural beauty, and making your best features pop!  So before we get to the makeup, have a look at our previous post on how to prep your skin for your big day, beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin.

First thing to ask yourself is, what is the weather going to be like? This is very important because if your day is on a hot summers day, by the time your ceremony is finished your face would have melted off and we don’t want that do we now. NO!  So applying a  oil control foundation primer such as Becca Mattfying Primer will allow your foundation to stay on longer.

To set the foundation  you want to use a translucent to hold that foundation so it wont move an inch! Ben Nye Banana Powder is a little paradise in a bottle, unlike other translucent powders that give you that white cast in photos.

The trick to getting a striking yet subtle eye look, less is more. Stick with neutrals and colours that compliment your eye colour. Stay away from a harsh black liner, as black liner tends to look very harsh in photos, especially if they are black and white. If you want to give your eyes a shape then use a brown black liner and smudge it slightly. We recommend  the Mac X15 warm/cool Neutral Pallette as it has a wide range of neutral colours that will suit any style of makeup a bride could want.

To complete your look, apply nice nude lipstick that is very close to your natural lip colour, you can always change the lip colour to a  sexy bold red lip as you get ready to get down on the dance floor! Be sure to choose a long lasting lip colour.

Round up lots and lots of images of your favorite makeup looks.  Make a pinterest board.  Or check out our pinterst make up boards. Then do trials so you can see which is best for you.  You may love a certain look but it may not suit you!  So do a couple of trails so you and your makeup artist can find the look for you.

The holiday season has officially passed and we’ve all gone back to work – but that doesn’t mean that the party’s over. The sun is still shining and the there’s really no better way to ring in the weekend than Friday night drinks with the girls. We know as well as you do that on a Friday arvo, after a long week slaving away at work, the last thing that you really want to be doing is applying a whole new face of make-up. However, that’s still no excuse to head out looking like a Hobo Jo – there are so many ways to build on your office-appropriate makeup for a more polished, dramatic result.

Day makeup

If you start your day with a more natural look – just a swipe of eyeliner and a smudge of shadow – then adding a bright lip is a perfect way to make that transition from day to night with really not that much effort at all. Start by dusting some loose translucent powder across your face to matte out any shine and oil from the day before applying your lipstick. For the ultimate creamy application, use a lip brush to mix the lipstick on the back of your hand before painting it on to your lips. Blot with a tissue and then apply a lip sealant to make sure that the colour lasts all night long!

day night 2

If a red lip is already your signature look and you feel like adding a little bit more drama for the night ahead then try building on your eye makeup to create a smoky eye. Start by powdering your whole face with some translucent powder, paying extra attention to your eye socket so that you can avoid creasing throughout the night. When you’re working on a smoky eye it’s always easiest to start with the lightest colour first and gradually introduce darker colours, blending as you go. To finish the look, apply a kohl liner around the lash line and water line of you eye before smudging it to achieve the perfect smoky effect. Reapply a quick swipe of mascara and you’re golden!
