Bridal Beauty Part 1

So you got the rock, firstly yay! (insert squeal here!) secondly where the heck do we start!?

modern-photographics

Bridal beauty has to be sectioned into 2 parts- hair and beauty. Why? Cause its a mammoth of a job!! But totally fun in the lead up to your big day!

Never again will you be able to get away with “what? (my future to be husband that put a ring on my finger so your basically stuck now) I need to have a facial every second week to get my skin glowing for our magical day where we say I do” or
“what? (my adoring future husband that knows a happy wife equals a happy life) I need to see my hairdresser every two weeks in lead up to our special so my locks are looking silky and smooth and in perfect condition for my perfect up do”

All jokes aside, your hair and beauty regime should be ramped up to the lead up of “The Day”

Firstly Skin:  The point is to get your skin in as good shape as possible so your makeup looks fantastic, stays in place, behaves as it should, and you need less of it. And even the most close up shots of you, hours into the event, are lovely.

So here is what we recommend, A fortnightly facial: we have many different facials at Esstudio to suit time and budgets.   This will feed your skin with nutrients and get it healthy.
IPL treatments.. If you can afford these they are the gold!  Its advisable to have at least 3 treatments at 3 week intervals.. IPL removes sun damage and pigmentation, refines pores and stimulates collagen and elastin.  You skin will be like a baby’s bum!
Call us for a free skin consult.
Now the work doesn’t just stop in the salon, it is advised to continue at home..
La Clinicas GlyC range will get your skin looking fabulous for your wedding.

At least six weeks before, use a powerful, do-it-all, rejuvenating serum each night under a hydrating cream, Jax recommends La Clinica’s Caviar and Peral serum from their firming lift range, get a thorough exfoliation (this might mean a few peels (Esstudio’s GlyC miroderm facials will do the trick) and skin-boosting nourishment from traditional facials in the final month.

And lets not forget your brows, lash extensions and  paws and claws! All things that can be up kept at Esstudio.

sad-girl-flat-hair

Thats me!! seriously I have like cob webs on my head.. I’ll let you in on a few secrets I have up my sleeve to  show that limp hair of yours a thing or two!

Ok look, yes yes we all want soft shinny hair, but if you have fine hair, soft and shinny actually means floppy, flat non co operative waste of time hair! am i right?! Right!

So here are your options fellow limp ladies…..

Add some texture into your hair with colour.
Adding pieces of colour into fine hair to add texture with a contrasting colour can really lift and give the illusion of more voluptuous hair.
Let me enlighten you with some visual options:

Now lets look at complimenting your contrasting texture highlights with a chop…
short hair for fine hair = thicker fuller hair.
here are come examples:

But if your like me and you like to pretend you can grow hair like rapunzal well get this! We can actually trick people into thinking we do have longer thicker locks with a few simple chopping techniques!
Tell your stylist you neeeeeeed to have slight slices and layering added into your hair with out taking too much length from around the face area then vualla !! You will look like this!

Now styling, forget that myth where you can’t wash your hair too much, flip that myth the bird!! Why you ask ?! Cause its your god dam hair that’s why!
Wash it as much as you like! I wash my hair every day! Why again you ask? Cause its fine and limp!! and i can’t re create what I did the day before because after I have slept on it, its so flat and in-cooperative it makes me want to cry!
So what do i do , I wash it and blast dry it every day to add extra body and volume and that’s how I tell my hair who is boss!

Tips on how to style that super fine hair are as follows:
Blowy dry blow-dry blow-dry- you have to get air and body into the few and far strands  you have so it bounces and builds!
Before blow drying I looooooooooove Mouse!! Especially mouse that gives body and hold but doesn’t make it stiff and sticky- I really love the (Sebastian whipped creme) not only does it work, but it smells amazing and is so pretty when you squeeze it into your hand it actually does look like whipped cream, it really does look good enough to eat!
You can then add a few waves or kinks in your locks with wands, straighteners etc whatever you have to give movement
Then to finish, powder. yes that’s right i said powder! I am so obsessed with this stuff I would line up to buy it like a 12 year old girl lining up for tickets to see one direction! That obsessed!!!
(the rock star powder lightest hold and Alfaparf VintageE for a Stronger hold)

These powders add texture and grit with hold but moveable hold and that look of sex hair (not bed hair but sexy sex hair) with a mix of “my hair is so great I just woke up like this’
Make sure you ask your stylist about the powder!!

TOOLS OF THE TRADE – FOUNDATION

spongebrushWhen it comes to applying your foundation you have three options – a foundation brush, a foundation sponge and your fingers. Let me start by telling you to avoid using your fingers at all costs. Using your hands to apply your foundation can mean losing up to 50% of the product on your hand. Not cool.

Then we have the foundation sponge. The Beauty Blender has taken the industry by storm because of its egg-shaped ‘no edges’ design. This leaves a perfectly airbrushed complexion behind. A tip to prevent your sponge from absorbing too much product is to wet the sponge down with water first and then squeeze it all out before dipping into your foundation.

A stippling brush is perfect for foundation. The brush is made up of shorter natural bristles and longer synthetic bristles. The dual-fiber brush is used for buffing and stippling foundation into your skin. To ‘stipple’ foundation for an airbrushed look, dip just the very tips of the bristles into your liquid foundation and gently press it into your skin.

CHOP SHOP

I don’t know if it’s the heat of the Aussie Summer or what, but lately the salon has been overrun with ladies looking to lop off their luscious locks. It’s a super easy way to beat the heat, cut styling time down by like a billion percent AND if you have Virgin Hair* that is 20cm or longer, you can donate your hair to organisations like Pantene  Beautiful Lengths to be made into a wig for women undergoing cancer treatment.

shorthair *Virgin Hair is hair that has not been coloured or chemically treated.

FA-BLUE-OUS

This nail art is really easy to achieve as long as you have some tape (even a Post-It will do) and some spare time to kill. Start with your typical base coat and two coats of colour – in this case white. Then wait 30 minutes or so for the white to dry before applying your tape in a triangle pattern – or if you’re super organised you can pant the white the night before. Apply one coat of light blue polish (Chanel’s Coco Blue) and after 10 seconds remove the tape. Wait another 10 minutes for the polish to dry before applying two new pieces of tape about 1mm further towards the free edge of the nail. Apply one coat of a darker blue polish (Chanel’s Blue Rebel). Once again, wait 10 seconds before peeling away the tape. Wait 15 minutes before applying tape another 1mm closer and then apply the metallic blue polish (Chanel’s Azure). Wait – you guessed it – another 10 seconds before removing the tape and then finish with a top coat!

If you don’t have this much time, but you have a steady hand and a striping brush handy then you can work from the inside out rather than the outside in. Start with your base coat and then two coats of white polish. Then paint the metallic blue triangle. After that you will need your striping brush to paint the two borders – first the darker blue and then the light blue. Finish with a top coat and Voila! Picture perfect nails!

If you don’t have the patience or just don’t trust yourself, pop by Esstudio Galleria and take advantage of our extensive range of Chanel polishes while we paint your nails to perfection!
